Walmart to Accept Chase Pay in 2017
Chase and Walmart announced today that Chase Pay will be accepted on Walmart.com and in stores through the Walmart Pay app.
To use Chase Pay online, shoppers will need to choose that option when checking out within the Walmart mobile app. To use Chase pay in-stores, users will simply have to pay with the Walmart Pay app.
“We are excited about the opportunity to provide our customers with even greater convenience and value to our Walmart Pay app while expanding our relationship with Chase,” said Mike Cook, senior vice president and assistant treasurer for Walmart. “Adding Chase Pay as an option within Walmart Pay and online will create an enhanced experience for our customers.”
Chase Pay was created for use with Chase Visa credit and debit cards. The service uses token technology, which helps make transactions more secure since a user’s credit card number is not transmitted. Instead, Chase Pay generates a one-time code to process the payment.
In September, Chase announced it would be processing payments for Walmart and Sam’s Club via ChaseNet. Both Chase Pay and ChaseNet will go live in 2017.
Chase has more than 94 million consumer debit, credit and prepaid card accounts. Almost 26 million people actively use the Chase mobile app.
