Verizon Confirms Samsung Pay Available on Galaxy S7 Devices
Verizon has confirmed that Samsung Pay will be available on the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge starting today, March 11. The mobile wallet was originally rumored to be excluded from the phones’ capabilities, but Jeffrey Nelson, Verizon’s Vice President of Communications, confirmed the app will be available on both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
Nelson tweeted,“@SamsungSupport confirms Samsung Pay is undergoing testing & will be avail on schedule for our 3/11 launch of Galaxy S7 & Galaxy S7 edge”.
Albert Aydin, a spokesperson for Verizon Wireless, told Android Central that the phone carrier has not blocked the function of Samsung Pay. They simply don’t have the mobile wallet preloaded onto the phones. Consumers can still download Samsung Pay at any time on their S7 smartphones because the app is supported on the phones’ framework.
Samsung Pay is also available on the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, and Note 5 through Verizon, per a software update in October. It is available on the same devices for other phone carriers as well, including AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile.
Samsung’s mobile wallet was potentially going to make its UK debut when the Galaxy S7 was put on the market, but that release has taken place. Samsung Pay is currently available in the United States, South Korea, Australia, Singapore and Brazil.
