Credit card rewards can come in many different varieties. There are can be cash back rewards or airline miles that can be earned with every purchase. For the person that likes to do projects around the house, there are rewards that can be generated at specific home improvement stores. The sports fan can earn rewards for their favorite team’s merchandise. In fact, there is a rewards program that can be found for just about every hobby or interest you may have.

One of the most popular rewards that consumers can earn on their credit card purchases is points. These points can give the consumer some additional flexibility on how they are redeeded. Here are some of the more popular point rewards cards for 2020:

The is one of the top travel cards in the credit card industry. Benefits include 60,000 bonus points when you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months of opening your account which is the equivalent of $600 in cash or $750 when redeemed through Chase Ultimate Rewards. You’ll also get 24/7 customer service, which allows you to talk to a real person whenever you’d like. Cardholders receive one point for every dollar spent, and two points on travel and restaurant dining, which makes the card a very solid option for those who do a lot of traveling. In addition, the card has no foreign transaction fees, and offers 1:1 point transfers on participating travel programs. The card has an APR of 17.49% - 24.49% Variable, depending on your creditworthiness. The Chase Sapphire Preferred card has a $95 annual fee.

The is a new and unique rewards card. Citi rounds up the ThankYou points earned with each purchase to the nearest 10. For instance, if a purchase qualifies for 15 ThankYou Points, that reward will be rounded up to 20 points. This occurs for every transaction, no matter how small. The card features a 15,000 ThankYou Point sign-up bonus. To earn the extra rewards, cardholders must spend $1,000 on the card during the first three months of card membership. The card earns two points per $1 spent at gas stations and supermarkets, for the first $6,000 in annual purchases made in those categories. All other transactions earn one point per $1. Cardholders will also get back 10% of their rewards on the first 100,000 points they redeem each year. There is a foreign transaction fee of 3%, as well as a balance transfer fee of $5 or 3% per transaction, whichever is greater. The introductory APR on purchases and balance transfers is 0% for the first 15 months. The standard APR is 14.99% - 24.99% (Variable), depending on credit worthiness. There is no annual fee on this card.

Citi also make a Rewards+ card for students with some of the same features. The also automatically rounds up to the nearest 10 points on every purchase with no cap. In addition, students receive two ThankYou® Points for every dollar spent at supermarkets and gas stations for the first $6,000 per year in purchases, and then one point thereafter. All other transactions earn one point per dollar. There is less of an early spend bonus with the student card: 2,500 bonus points after you spend $500 in purchases with your card within three months of opening the account opening—that is redeemable for a $25 gift card at thankyou.com. Cardholders receive 10% of their redeemed points back on the first 100,000 ThankYou® Points redeemed each year. In addition, there is a 0% APR for the first seven months on all purchases. This card has no annual fee. The ongoing APR is 15.99% - 25.99% (Variable) depending on your credit worthiness. This card is designed for students with good credit.

The is a relatively new card on the market with some attractive features. There is an introductory APR of 0% for 12 months on purchases and 18 months on balance transfers. The ongoing interest rate is 14.40% - 24.40% (variable) based on your credit worthiness. New cardholders can earn a $150 statement credit after spending $1,200 on purchases within the first 90 days from account opening. One point is earned for every dollar spent, and you can earn 5x rewards on up to $1500 in combined purchases each quarter in popular categories such as dining, groceries, travel, and automotive. Late payments don’t raise your APR.  There is no annual fee on this card.
