Texas-based American Airlines is one of the world’s largest airlines, so chances are good you may need to board one of their planes in the future.
If the airline is your first choice, there are two American Airlines credit cards offered to non-business consumers.
The American Airlines AAdvantage MileUp℠ Card is one of the few no annual fee airline credit cards on the market. Cardholders will earn 2 AAdvantage® miles for every dollar spent at grocery stores (including grocery delivery services) and on eligible American Airlines purchases. All other purchases earn one AAdvantage® mile per dollar. Additionally, cardholders can save 25% on in-flight food and beverage purchases when they use their card. New cardholders can earn 10,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles and a $50 statement credit when they spend $500 within the first three months of opening their account. The card has an APR of 18.24% - 26.24%* (Variable).
Those who fly American Airlines may also want to consider the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite™ Mastercard®. New cardholders can earn 50,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles after they spend $2,500 within the first three months and a $125 American Airlines Flight Discount after they spend $20,000 or more in the first year of opening their account and renew their card. While there is a $99 annual fee, it is waived for the first year, and cardholders can enjoy a free checked bag on domestic flights for themselves and four companions. Other perks include no foreign transaction fees, preferred boarding on American Airlines flights and 25% savings on in-flight food and beverage purchases when cardholders use their card. Cardholders earn 2 AAdvantage® miles for gas station, restaurant and eligible American Airlines purchases. The card has an APR of 18.24% - 26.24%* (Variable).
