Sephora to Launch Rewards Credit Card

Sephora announced the development of its first credit card program. This spring, the beauty retailer will launch the Sephora Credit Card, Sephora Visa Credit Card and Sephora Visa Signature Credit Card.

Currently, Sephora offers a Beauty Insider rewards program for its shoppers. It is free to sign up, and shoppers earn points based on how much they spend. The tiers break down as follows:

  • Insider (entry-level tier): 1 rewards point per $1 spent plus 2 choices for birthday rewards
  • VIB (mid-tier, reached after spending $350 per calendar year): 1.25 rewards points per $1 spent plus 4 birthday choices
  • Rouge (top tier, reached after spending $1,000 per calendar year): 1.5 rewards points per $1 spent plus 4 birthday choices

Other rewards include seasonal savings in-store and online, trial size products and “one-of-a-kind experiences.” Rouge members get early access to products, as well as a $100 Rouge Reward, and special events.

The new Sephora credit cards will offer rewards in addition to the existing Beauty Insider program. The company has not yet announced the details of the rewards program.

The cards will launch in select markets, but will then roll-out to the 48 contiguous states in the months that follow. Cardholders who qualify for the Visa Signature card will be able to make use of the Signature benefits program, which includes concierge service, rental car privileges and luxury hotel stays.
