New Samsung Smartwatches Compatible with Samsung Pay

Just a week after releasing a beta test for Samsung Pay, the mobile phone developer revealed at IFA 2015 in Berlin that two new smartwatches will be introduced in November. The new wearables, known as the Samsung Gear S2 and the Gear S2 Classic, will fully support Samsung Pay.

Much like Apple Pay’s relationship with the Apple Watch, Samsung Pay is designed to give users an easy in-store payment option. Both versions of the Gear S2 are made with NFC technology, allowing them to communicate with card readers equipped for touch-free payments. The smartwatch will pair with Android smartphones, even those not made by Samsung, and will pull data from that phone to process a touchless payment.

The Samsung Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic should be available in stores sometime in October.

This announcement not only gives Samsung enthusiasts some new state-of-the-art equipment, but also confirms that Samsung Pay will be live in the next two months. The beta version out right now is only available for select customers, but the full version should be accessible shortly. Until then, Samsung is undoubtedly working out the final details in the coding to ensure the nationwide launch goes smoothly.
