Sam’s Club Rolls Out Same-Day Pickup to All Locations
Sam’s Club has rolled out its same-day pickup service to all 599 U.S. locations. The warehouse retailer began piloting the program last summer.
Walmart, the company that owns Sam’s Club, has been gradually expanding its online order/grocery pickup service. By the end of the year, the store is expected to offer grocery pickup at 3,100 locations. Walmart also offers same-day grocery delivery, which is now available in 100 metro locations.
Sam’s Club Pickup works in a similar way to Walmart Grocery Pickup. Customers order items online through the Sam’s Club app and select an available time for pickup. Once an order is ready, a customer will receive a text or email saying it is available to pick up.
The pickup process is slightly different for Sam’s Club. Some locations have a designated pickup area in the parking lot, similar to how it works at Walmart. Others have a pickup kiosk inside the store. Customers can go to the kiosk, and an associate will bring out their order.
There is no minimum or maximum order for Club Pickup. The service is free for Sam’s Club members. Most items are eligible for pickup, including groceries, electronics, baby goods and mattresses. However, jewelry, phones, books, and some other items are not included.
Customers can pay for their items online at the time of purchase, or pay at the store during pickup. Pickup can be scheduled up to seven days in advance. Orders not picked up within 48 hours will be cancelled and refunded.
Once a Club Pickup order is placed, the time or items in the order cannot be modified. Sam’s Club says, “We run a very tight schedule. If you need a different pickup time, you must cancel or reorder with the preferred time slot.”
