Rewards To Be Enhanced For The Citi Prestige Card

Citi is relaunching the Citi Prestige card in January 2019, complete with a host of new rewards. The card was temporarily taken off the market in August to prepare for the rewards restructuring.

Chris Fred, Head of Proprietary Products for Citi Cards, says the company altered the card benefits based on customer feedback. The new Citi Prestige Card offers five ThankYou Points per $1 spent on dining and air travel, plus three points per $1 on cruise purchases. It will also feature some of the former rewards, such as three ThankYou Points per $1 on hotel purchases and one point per $1 for all other purchases.

The previous card offered $250 air travel credit, but the new card offers $250 in general travel credit. This bonus will no longer be exclusive to airline tickets.

All cardmembers can receive a complimentary fourth night at any hotel, redeemable twice a year, along with a $100 reimbursement for TSA Precheck or Global Entry fees. The Prestige Card also comes with 24/7 concierge, travel and emergency assistance, trip cancellation protection, and no foreign transaction fee.

The annual fee for the card is increasing from $450 per year to $495 per year. Citi has not announced the new APR structure for the Prestige card, but the previous model had rates from 17.49% to 25.49%.
