Orbitz Launches Visa Cash Back Rewards Card
Travel site Orbitz has introduced its own cash back Visa card. This is similar to the Travelocity card from American Express or the Expedia card from Citi Bank.
The Orbitz card offers cardholders cash back, not rewards points. Technically, users of the Orbitz card earn “Orbucks.” One Orbuck equals one dollar, which you can use to book a trip through Orbitz. Orbucks have no restrictions on peak travel times or blackout dates.
While the process of converting Orbucks is fairly easy, earning them is rather confusing. The Orbitz credit card offers 7% cash back for flights booked booked through their mobile app and 6% back when booked on a desktop. Those figures increase to 10% and 8% respectively on hotel bookings. Cardholders receive 2% back in Orbucks on all other purchases.
The APR on the card is high–15.99% to 24.99%, depending on your credit worthiness.
The company is offering a $50 bonus if you spend $200 in the first 90 days of being a cardholder.
Orbitz.com partnered with Alliance Data Retail Services to provide the credit and marketing services for the new card.
