MasterCard to Introduce New Logo

MasterCard to Introduce New Logo

July 14, 2016         Written By Bill Hardekopf

MasterCard will introduce a new logo for the first time in two decades.

The logo will be included by the end of the month on MasterPass, the company’s digital payment service. Subsequently, it will be rolled out onto other MasterCard products.

The new logo has red and yellow interlocking circles and the word “mastercard”, all in lower-case letters. The name is also written in a new font.

“We wanted to emphasize the fact that MasterCard is no longer just a card product — the future will be predominantly digital,” Raja Rajamannar, chief marketing and communications officer for MasterCard, told Forbes. “We feel comfortable the change is preserving the equity and heritage and yet leveraging off of that and contemporizing it to make ourselves more adaptable.”

Pentagram Design designed the new logo.
