Lock Your Debit Card With This Smartphone App

Lock Your Debit Card With This Smartphone App

August 13, 2014         Written By Bill Hardekopf

Ever wish you could just “turn off” your debit cards when you aren’t using them? Then you wouldn’t have to worry about someone spending money from your account. Thanks to an app from Malauzai Software, you could lock your bank debit card from your smartphone, making it easy to prevent hackers from stealing your money.

The software is not designed for all cards, or at least not at this time. Rather, it is made for community banks and credit unions that wish to offer this service to their customers. Banks currently using the software include Centier Bank, Vons Credit Union and Happy State Bank.

If your bank offers an app through Malauzai Software, you will be able to manage your account details via your phone. You can check balances and transfer funds, as well as turning off your debit card through the app.

If your bank does not offer this service at this time, you might want to bring up the idea to one of the bank managers. Banks can go to Malauzai’s website to schedule a demo of the app’s features and determine if this software is right for their customers.
