LG Pay Now Available in the United States

After several years of anticipation, LG’s mobile wallet is finally available in the United States. Starting today, users can download LG Pay on select devices through the Google Play Store.
In 2016, LG announced their mobile wallet would be compatible with new and old LG devices. However, the wallet introduced today is only compatible with the LG G8 ThinQTM during the initial launch. It will become compatible with LG V50 ThinQTM 5G, LG G7 ThinQTM, LG V40 ThinQTM, and LG V35 ThinQTM devices in the coming months. LG has not said if it will be available on older devices, but it will be an option for future flagship phones.
LG Pay has been active in South Korea since 2017, and was expected to arrive in the U.S. by June 2018.
LG Pay works with both near-field communications (NFC) readers and wireless magnetic communications (WMC) readers, making it usable at nearly every payment terminal. The mobile wallet also responds to voice commands.
LG has partnered with Swych to provide additional gift card services within the mobile wallet. Consumers can purchase digital gift cards from over 600 retailers and restaurants, and load them to their LG Pay wallet. They can also ‘swych’ a gift card they buy or receive for a gift card from another merchant.
