Kroger Launches Kroger Pay and New Rewards Debit Card

The grocery chain Kroger has two new offers for its shoppers. Today, the company announced the launch of a mobile wallet called Kroger Pay, as well as a Kroger REWARDS debit card.

Kroger Pay functions like most mobile wallets. Users load cards into their wallets and use their phones at checkout. But Kroger Pay is also automatically linked to a customer’s rewards account. Shoppers who have a 1-2-3 REWARDS credit card, REWARDS prepaid card or REWARDS debit card can earn fuel points and grocery rewards when paying through Kroger Pay. The mobile wallet also shows available coupons and weekly ads, and has a place for customers to store their shopping lists.

The new debit card offers bonus fuel points and special discounts. Users earn double rewards if they use their card through Kroger Pay. The debit card connects to a customer’s checking account, so users do not have to load money onto it like they would a prepaid card.

Kroger Pay is available for Apple and Android devices. It was recently introduced in stores in Columbus, Ohio, and will be rolling out to other locations in the spring and across the country by the end of the year. The REWARDS debit card is available in Columbus, Ohio and Colorado, but will be available in all Kroger locations in the coming months.
