Do All Credit Cards Work with Samsung Pay?
Samsung Pay is one of the many mobile wallets available for your cell phone. It is also one of the most popular, along with Apple Pay and Android Pay.
Mobile wallets, such as Samsung Pay, are safer to use at the register than swiping your credit card. Instead of processing your purchase with your credit card number and other identifying details, mobile wallets use a unique token that changes with every transaction. So if a criminal hacks the retailer’s payment card system, they will only get a useless token instead of your credit card details.
Additionally, your payment card details are not stored on your phone. Once you have synced your credit or debit card with your device, banking information is saved with a unique, dynamic code that changes every time you use Samsung Pay.
Not only does Samsung Pay work in-stores, you can also use it to checkout in apps and pay online with Visa Checkout. This means you won’t have to go through the bother or risk of entering your payment card and address details online.
Sold on mobile wallets but not sure your credit card will work with Samsung Pay? Nearly all major card issuers and banks are compatible with Samsung Pay. There is a full list of compatible banks and credit card companies on Samsung’s website. Chase, American Express, Wells Fargo, Discover and Capital One all work with Samsung Pay, to name just a few.
When you use Samsung Pay, you will still be rewarded for your spending via your credit card company. For example, if you have a rewards credit card such as the Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card, which offers 1.5% cash back on all purchases, you will still get those cash back rewards–even when you use the card through Samsung Pay.
Samsung can also help you take advantage of deals in other ways. First, Samsung Pay uses your phone’s GPS to send notifications for discounts and coupons from local retailers. Additionally, Samsung will sometimes reward you for shopping at certain retailers.
If you have a Samsung phone, consider enrolling your credit card in Samsung Pay. You will still earn rewards, and you will be processing transactions using a safer system.
