Mobile banking app provider Digital Insight has announced that it will be incorporating Apple Touch ID technology into its applications over the next few months. Users who have an iPhone 5s or newer versions will be able to take advantage of a new, more convenient way to pay for the items they need.

Touch ID is the fingerprint scanning system used in all new Apple devices. It can be used to unlock the phone and log into select apps and websites. Now it can be used in mobile banking. Touch ID provides a fast sign-in solution for Digital Insight’s products, while also boosting the security.

“Touch ID frees consumers from having to enter their username and password in order to access their finances,” said Dan Weis, senior product manager at Digital Insight. “The speed and ease of use of Touch ID will provide financial institutions another innovation to offer their customers and members and further help them differentiate in the marketplace.”

The Touch ID function is going to be integrated into Digital Insight’s apps later this year for anyone using an iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, or iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 8 or newer. This should also be an option for the iPad Mini 3 and the iPad Air 2 this fall.
