Now that November has arrived, many Americans are looking toward the holiday shopping season. As they consider the gifts they plan to purchase, they may also be thinking about the best credit card to use to make these purchases. There are a number of credit cards on the market that are offering great sign up bonuses. Since you’re likely to spend more this time of year, now is the perfect time to take advantage of these introductory rewards.

Wells Fargo Propel American Express® Card

Featured Low Interest Card

Top Features: No annual fee; $150 statement credit after spending $1,200 in first 90 days; 0% on Purchases for 12 months

The Wells Fargo Propel American Express® card offers 30,000 bonus points when new cardholders spend $3,000 within the first three months of opening their account, which is a cash redemption value of $300. In addition to the introductory offer, you can earn 3X points on eating out or ordering in; gas, transit and ride shares; travel; and popular streaming services. All other purchases earn one point per dollar, and there is no annual fee.

Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard®

The Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® charges an $89 annual fee, but it is waived in the first year. New cardholders receive 70,000 bonus miles when they spend $5,000 within the first 90 days of opening their account. You also earn 2X miles on every purchase and 5% miles back towards your next redemption when you redeem your miles for travel. There are no foreign transaction fees when using this card.

Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card

The Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards credit card is great rewards card with no annual fee. New cardholders earn 20,000 miles when they spend $1,000 within the first three months of opening their account. In addition to the bonus offer, cardholders earn 1.25X miles on every purchase. As with all Capital One cards, there are no foreign transactions fees.

Citi Premier℠ Card

The Citi Premier℠ Card has a very attractive early-spend bonus: when you spend $4,000 within the first three months of opening your account, you will earn 60,000 bonus points. The 60,000 points can be redeemed for $750 in airfare on any airline when booked through the Citi ThankYou Travel Center, or they can be redeemed for $600 in gift cards at thankyou.com. Cardholders also earn 3X points on travel, including gas station purchases, 2X on dining and entertainment, and one point on all other purchases. There are no foreign transaction fees when using this card, but there is a $95 annual fee.

Wells Fargo Cash Wise Visa® Card

The Wells Fargo Cash Wise Visa® Card enables you to earn a $200 cash rewards bonus after spending $1,000 in the first three months. Cardholders will earn an unlimited 1.5% cash rewards on all purchases, and 1.8% cash rewards on qualified mobile wallet purchases, like Apple Pay® or Google Pay™, during the first 12 months from account opening. The card has no annual fee. The card also has a 0% introductory APR for 12 months on purchases and balance transfers (fees apply).

Each of these five cards offer tempting introductory rewards and are good options for handling your holiday spending. However, do not overspend simply to earn these benefits or because you have a high credit limit. Many Americans go into debt over the holidays, so it is important to create a budget before shopping to make sure you can pay off your cards as soon as you receive your statement. You don’t want to start the new year with high debt and interest fees.
