Best Credit Cards for Delta Flyers

Delta Airlines, based out of Atlanta, Georgia, flies to 233 destinations worldwide. If you are one of the people taking one of their nearly 5,000 flights each day, you may be wondering which credit card is best for earning miles to use on Delta flights.

Delta Credit Cards

Delta offers three branded credit cards through American Express, which are ideal if you fly the airline exclusively.

Gold Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card from American Express

The Gold Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card from American Express is offering a few bonuses to new card members. The $95 annual fee is waived for the first year, and cardholders earn 70,000 bonus miles when they spend $4,000 within the first three months of opening their account. And you can earn a $50 statement credit if you make a Delta purchase during those first three months. Additionally, cardholders earn two miles per dollar on Delta purchases and one mile per dollar on all other purchases. Card members also pay no foreign transaction fees and can enjoy Main Cabin 1 Priority boarding. The card has an APR of  17.24% - 26.24% Variable.

Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card from American Express

The Platinum Delta SkyMiles Business credit card from American Express has a $195 annual fee ($250 if application is received on or after 1/30/2020), but cardholders can enjoy many perks. New card members can earn 5,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) and 35,000 bonus miles when they spend $1,000 within the first three months of opening their account. You can also earn a $100 statement credit if you make a Delta purchase in those first three months. Card members also earn two miles for every dollar spent with Delta and one mile for every other dollar spent, and the miles never expire. Other perks include a free checked bag, Main Cabin 1 Priority boarding and 20% savings on eligible in-flight purchases. The card has an APR of 17.24% - 26.24% Variable.

Delta Reserve® Credit Card

The Delta Reserve® Credit Card has an even higher annual fee—$450 ($550 if application is received on or after 1/30/2020)—but it offers several rewards for frequent flyers. New card members get 5,000 MQMs and 75,000 bonus miles when they spend $5,000 within the first three months of opening their account. This offer ends on 10/30/2019. Delta Reserve cardholders are also granted complimentary Delta Sky Club Access, concierge service, 20% savings on eligible in-flight purchases and a companion certificate when you renew your card each year. They also do not pay foreign transaction fees. The APR on this card is 17.49% to 26.49% Variable.

Other Airline Credit Cards

If you want to keep your flight options open and do not want to only earn miles on Delta, you may want to explore an airline credit card that allows you to redeem your miles with any airline.

Bank of America® Premium Rewards®

The Bank of America® Premium Rewards® credit card gives up to $200 in combined airline incidental and TSA Pre✓®/ Global Entry statement credits. Cardholders receive 50,000 bonus points after making at least $3,000 in purchases in the first 90 days of opening an account which is a $500 value. Consumers earn two points for every $1 spent on travel and dining purchases, and an unlimited 1.5 points per $1 spent on all other purchases. There are no foreign transaction fees on this card which can result in significant savings when traveling to another country. There is a $95 annual fee on this card. The card has an 17.49% - 24.49% Variable APR on purchases.

Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard®

The Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® is a great option if you would like to earn miles for travel and are looking for a balance transfer credit card. Currently, Barclaycard is offering new cardholders 0% APR for 12 billing cycles on balance transfers made within the first 45 days of opening the account. While balance transfers will not earn miles, new customers can earn 70,000 bonus miles when they spend $5,000 on purchases within the first three months of opening their account. All purchases earn 2X miles per dollar. Points can be redeemed at any airline, any time, and cardholders get 5% of their miles back whenever they redeem points. Additionally, Barclaycard charges no foreign transaction fees, and the $89 annual fee is waived for the first year. The card has an APR of 18.24%, 22.24% or 25.24% variable based on your creditworthiness.

Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card

The Capital One® Venture® Rewards card gives all cardholders 2X miles for every dollar spent. The miles can be used at any hotel or on any airline, there are no blackout days and they don’t expire. There is a $95 annual fee, which is waived for the first year. Cardmembers get a $100 application fee credit for Global Entry or TSA Pre✓®. New cardholders can earn 50,000 miles when they spend $3,000 within the first three months, which is worth $500 in travel expenses. The card has an APR of 17.49% - 24.74% (Variable).

Citi Premier℠ Card

Like many cards on the list, the Citi Premier℠ Card gives new cardholders an introductory offer. When new account holders spend $4,000 within the first three months of opening their account, they will earn 60,000 bonus points, which can be redeemed for $750 worth of airfare via the ThankYou Travel Center or $600 in gift cards at thankyou.com. All cardholders earn 3X points on travel and gas station purchases, 2X points on dining and entertainment, and one point for all other purchases. There is a $95 annual fee, but no foreign transaction fees. The card has an APR of 18.24%-26.24% (Variable).
