Barclays Relaunches Frontier Airlines World Mastercard with New Travel Benefits

Today, Barclays and Frontier Airlines announced a relaunch of their co-branded travel rewards card. The Frontier Airlines World Mastercard features a revised rewards program and a 40,000 mile sign-up bonus for new customers that spend $500 in the first 90 days.

In what Frontier Airlines calls the 5-3-1 rewards structure, users can earn five miles per $1 spent booking flights on FlyFrontier.com. They also earn three miles per $1 spent at restaurants, and one mile for all other purchases.

Families can unlock a family pooling feature, allowing up to nine total users to earn miles toward the account: the initial cardholder plus eight contributors. The rewards structure and overall balance remains the same for each card, but all the miles go to the initial cardholder’s account.

Miles on the card can be used to unlock Elite Status tiers, which offer bonus rewards for active users. After spending $20,000 on the card in a year, users earn free carry-on bag options and special seating assignments. At $50,000, the rewards also include family seating and seat assignments for up to eight companions. At $100,000, the reward include the WORKS bundle, which offers priority boarding, flight flexibility and 100% travel refunds.

There is no foreign transaction fee on the card, but there is a $79 annual fee. However, users can earn a $100 flight voucher every year, as long as they spend at least $2,500 on their Frontier rewards card.
