American Express and Delta Are Enhancing the Rewards for the SkyMiles Card Portfolio

Today, American Express and Delta Airlines announced the relaunch of their co-branded credit card portfolio. Starting January 30, 2020, Delta SkyMiles American Express cards will come with a suite of new rewards for both businesses and consumers.

The new benefits for consumer cards include:

  • Delta SkyMiles Blue: 2X miles at restaurants, no foreign transaction fees and the ability to pay with miles
  • Delta SkyMiles Gold: 2X miles at restaurants and U.S. supermarkets, and a $100 Delta flight credit after spending $10,000 per year (the annual fee for this card will increase to $99)
  • Delta SkyMiles Platinum: 3X miles on Delta flights and hotel bookings, 2X miles at restaurants and U.S. supermarkets, and up to a $100 credit for Global Entry or TSA Precheck (annual fee increases to $250)
  • Delta SkyMiles Reserve: 3X Miles on Delta flights, up to 4 Status Boosts annually, 2 Delta SkyClub one-time guest passes, access to the Centurion Lounge, and up to a $100 credit for Global Entry or TSA Precheck (annual fee increases to $550)

The new benefits for business cards include:

  • Delta SkyMiles Gold Business: 2X miles at restaurants, 2X miles for U.S. shipping and advertising, and a $100 Delta flight credit after spending $10,000 per year
  • Delta SkyMiles Platinum Business: 3X miles on Delta flights and hotel reservations, 1.5X miles for purchases over $5,000, and up to a $100 credit for Global Entry or TSA Precheck
  • Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business: 3X Miles on Delta flights, 1.5X miles after spending $150,000 per year, up to 4 Status Boosts annually, complimentary upgrades for cardholders without Medallion Status, and up to a $100 credit for Global Entry or TSA Precheck

Additionally, there are limited time offers available for cardholders who apply between October 1 and October 30, 2019. These offers include 60,000 to 80,000 in bonus miles and $50 to $100 in statement credits, depending on the card. Approved applicants will pay the current annual fee amount for the first year, and then pay the updated amount when their card renews in 2020.
