Amazon Launches Off-to-College Store and Unlimited One-Day Delivery for Students
Prime Student members get unlimited one-day and same-day shipping for items in the Off-to-College store. Competitors like Walmart and Target have recently enhanced their same- and next-day shipping options as well, but they do not offer dedicated options for college students.
Prime Student has all the benefits of a traditional Prime account, but it costs half as much. Applicants can sign up for a six-month trial. After that, the service costs $6.49 per month or $59 per year. Students must be enrolled in a two- or four-year college to be eligible for the discounted rate.
Off-to-College has revolving discounts for college-related products. However, Prime Student members also have access to exclusive deals. For instance, one of the current offers is 30% off select Sony LED smart TVs, and it is available exclusively for Prime members.
Amazon recently launched secured versions of the Amazon Store Card and Amazon Prime Store Card. These options, available through Credit Builder, allow people with limited credit to earn rewards and improve their scores at the same time. With a secured credit card, the user is responsible for providing funds for the credit limit. College students could apply for one of these secured cards and get even more benefits from Prime Student and the offers in Off-to-College.
