Samsung Pay Users Can Spend New Year's Eve with Usher

NEW YORK-MAY 18: Singer Usher performs on the Today Show concert series at Rockefeller Plaza on May 18, 2012 in New York City.

As competition between Samsung Pay, Android Pay and Apple Pay heats up, the companies are offering consumers more incentives to use their services. Samsung has upped the ante by announcing that Samsung Pay users have the chance to win an exclusive performance and private New Year’s Eve party featuring Usher in Los Angeles.

Samsung Pay has also launched a nationwide shopping mall takeover as a part of the promotion. At 50 select malls, customers can try out and activate Samsung Pay, and then enter to win tickets to the Usher party as well as other prizes.

The contest began on December 10 and will continue through December 21. The Samsung Pay mall experience will remain open until January 10 so shoppers can learn more about and activate Samsung Pay, as well as earn other rewards. A list of the participating shopping centers can be found here.

“This holiday season Samsung Pay wants to give its users the gift of a lifetime: a New Year’s Eve with Usher. Samsung Pay continues to offer its users unparalleled experiences, including this newest opportunity to spend an evening with one of the biggest musicians in the world,” said Nana Murugesan, VP of Strategy and Operations for Samsung Electronics America. “Our mall experience will help even more holiday shoppers breeze through their gift lists with credit cards, debit cards, and gift cards supported by Samsung Pay at the top malls across the U.S. and understand the ease and convenience of the most widely accepted mobile payment system.”

To make a payment with Samsung Pay, users simply swipe up on their phone, scan their fingerprint and pay. Fingerprint security and tokenization keeps the transactions safe, and it is compatible with most existing terminals.
