Samsung Pay Now Supports USAA Visa Credit and Debit Cards

October 18, 2016, Written By Natalie Rutledge

USAA Bank recently announced that Samsung Pay now supports its Visa debit and credit cards. The bank’s cards are already supported by Android Pay and Apple Pay.

If you have Samsung Pay on a compatible device, you can upload your USAA bank card information to your mobile wallet. Then you can select it to make payments whenever you use your phone at a register. USAA says this option is only available with “select cards,” and some users have had issues getting theirs to sync with their mobile wallets.

Just under a year ago, USAA Bank ended its 30-year relationship with MasterCard to move its portfolio to Visa. One of the primary reasons for the switch was to allow USAA to “provide more benefits” to cardholders, such as the elimination of foreign transaction fees. They were successfully able to do that in February of this year.

Some newer-model Samsung devices already have Samsung Pay pre-installed, or the installation was completed in a recent update. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has a tab at the bottom of the screen that users can swipe to access their Samsung Pay accounts. If you have a compatible device that does not currently have Samsung Pay installed, it can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
