More girl scout troops will have the ability to accept your debit or credit card as payment for those delicious Thin Mints and Samoas.
A total of 30 Girl Scout councils throughout the country offered mobile payments earlier this year, allowing the girls to accept debit or credit card payments through an attachment on mobile devices. Sales, primarily done outside retail stores and door-to-door, increased significantly. Those councils worked with Sage Mobile Payments.
Now, the Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio, California, which represents over 11,000 girls, will use the PayAnywhere app and credit card reader to enhance the cookie sales in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
These mobile credit card readers are small accessories plugged into the audio jack of smartphones and tablets, making them mobile payment terminals that can swipe cards and securely process a payment.
The readers allow the money to go straight into the troop's bank account, as well as giving the ability to provide an email receipt to the buyer.
