Mobile Devices To Aid Store Clerks This Holiday Season

October 11, 2012, Written By Natalie Rutledge

Your Christmas shopping may be a little more pleasant this year, thanks to greater use of mobile devices by the clerks in certain retail chains.

Sears and Kmart will equip their employees in 360 stores with mobile point-of-sale devices to help alleviate long lines and aid in customer convenience. These mobile devices will allow shoppers to pay with a credit or debit card from where they are standing rather than at a specific cash register. The receipt can be printed on the spot or emailed to the customer.

In addition, 500 stores will receive tablets where inventory can be checked as well as other product information the shopper may need.
