MasterCard’s $39 Million Expansion Creates Nearly 400 New Jobs

MasterCard has announced plans to create a new tech lab and expand its campus in Purchase, New York. The total project will cost approximately $39 million and will create almost 400 new jobs in the state.

The expansion at the Purchase campus will make room for 270 new employees, and the lab development in Manhattan will create an additional 122 jobs. Software developers, researchers and other workers will soon have new hope of working for MasterCard.

MasterCard will save an estimated $1.3 million of the total construction cost due to a sales tax exemption in Westchester County.

Part of the construction plans calls for the credit card giant to renovate its main building, which has been around since 1995. The original building was designed by world-renowned architect I.M. Pei, but there is no information about the new designer at this time. The company will be adding on to its original building.

It may be months or even years before all of the renovation work is fully completed, but the new jobs it will create will certainly help the economy in the New York area.
