Gas may not be as expensive as it was last year, but it’s still a major expense for many families. In addition, it is nearly certain that oil prices will rise again, which will be painful for drivers all over the United States.

Thankfully, there are several reward credit cards that offer excellent savings on gasoline purchases. While some of these cards offer bonuses for purchases from gas stations, others offer a high level of rewards on all purchases, including gas. So in the end, choosing the best gas rewards card will depend on how you use your credit cards.

Capital One Quicksilver and QuicksilverOne

The Capital One Quicksilver and QuicksilverOne both offer unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase, including gas. Quicksilver is a Visa Signature card with no annual fees, and you can earn a $100 bonus after spending $500 in the first three months of card membership. The QuicksilverOne designed for those with average credit, and it is a MasterCard with a $39 annual fee and no sign-up bonus. Also, with the QuicksilverOne card, you can quickly access a higher credit limit after making the first five monthly payments on time. Both cards provide free and unlimited access to your credit score, and you can redeem your cash back rewards at any time for any amount. Finally, there are no foreign transaction fees for these cards.

Citi DoubleCash

The Citi DoubleCash card is a good choice for someone who wants consistent cash back on all of their purchases, including gas. This card offers 1% unlimited cash back at the time of purchases and an additional 1% cash back as you pay for those purchases in full or over time. Additionally, Citi DoubleCash gives a one-time waiver on your first late payment. Cash back rewards can be redeemed for a check, a statement credit, or gift cards. There is no annual fee for this card.

Your ThankYou points do not expire and there is no limit to the number of points you can earn. After spending $3,000 in the first three months, new applicants will earn 50,000 bonus ThankYou Points. Points may be redeemed for gift cards, merchandise or travel reservations booked through Citi’s ThankYou rewards travel agent.
