Cardholders can pay for all or a portion of their Best Buy purchase using a statement credit when they use their Citi card during checkout.

Citi said this partnership with Best Buy was made because consumer electronics are one of the most popular redemption categories in their ThankYou Rewards program.

“At Citi, we are committed to evolving our ThankYou Rewards program to provide members new ways to use their points how they want and when they want,” said Mary Hines, Managing Director, Benefits, New Product Development and Global Rewards. “Our partnership with Best Buy is another important milestone for on-demand points redemption that offers members the flexibility to choose to cover all or part of any purchase made on BestBuy.com.”

To pay with their points, cardholders must:

  • Go to BestBuy.com or use the Best Buy app to shop. They can also follow the link to the retailer from ThankYou.com.
  • Enter their Citi ThankYou credit card information at the checkout.
  • Select how many available points they would like to use on the purchase.
  • Complete the transaction with the Citi card. The full amount will be charged to the card, but a statement credit will appear for the points used within 24 to 48 hours.

Shoppers can elect to pick-up their purchase in-store, which allows them to get their new product sooner. In fact, 70% of Americans live within 10 miles of a Best Buy location, so few will have to wait for their order to ship.

Citi Thank You members will receive other benefits when they pay with points on BestBuy.com. Products will also receive an extended warranty, damage and theft protection and access to Citi Price Rewind. Also, members will earn ThankYou points for each $1 spent on their purchase.
