Today, CardLinx announced it has added a number of new companies to its system, including Samsung Card, General Mills, Under Armour, Go Daddy and FIS. The non-profit company works to create common standards for card-linked offers and loyalty programs.

The card-linked system allows consumers to link their debit or credit cards to mobile apps, digital coupons, loyalty programs or mobile wallets. Once the card is linked, the consumer can pay with a registered payment card or mobile phone, and automatically receive the discounts or loyalty benefits.

Companies benefit because they can send customers personalized ads and track how online behavior affects in-store purchases.

“Our members are drawn to CardLinx because of our collaborative, multi-industry conferences, standards work groups and digital marketing best-practices,” said CardLinx President and CEO, Silvio Tavares. “Card-linking has firmly established itself as an essential capability for frictionless digital commerce.”

Many companies are already members of CardLinx, including Microsoft, Bank of America, MasterCard, Discover, Facebook, First Data, Linkable Networks, Living Social and Affinity Solutions. In fact, last year, merchants representing over $1.3 trillion in annual sales attended a CardLinx conference or used card-linked marketing.
