American Express is creating media partnerships to make it easy for viewers to buy the clothing, furniture and other items they see while watching a television show.
The technology is being called "T-Commerce" since it is combining e-commerce with television shows.
The concept is being offered to viewers of the "New Girl" show on Fox. Fans can now buy certain items through the Fox.com website or through the Fox Now apps for iPad.
American Express is also forming an integrated shopping partnership with NBC Universal, allowing fans to use apps on mobile devices to buy products seen on shows such as E!'s "Fashion Police", Style's "Tia & Tamera" and Bravo's "Life After Top Chef."
"The technology that we are pioneering along with our partners is the first step in fundamentally changing the way that audiences can discover, engage with and ultimately have access to the things they see on television," said Lou Paskalis, Vice President of Global Media Content Development and Mobile Marketing, American Express.
American Express is giving an introductory offer of a $35 statement credit if they use an eligible card that has been synced with a Facebook account to purchase an item seen on these shows.
