Paid off balance and they still charge interest?!

Before I call the issuer I was wondering if this has happened to anyone: I had a fairly high balance (couple thousand$) on my Chase Visa and I paid off the balance in full last month. I just got the next statement and they are charging me interest (~25$) apparently for the time between the previous statement and the time they recieved my payment of full balance. I did the same thing with a different Visa (a local credit union's) and thier next statement showed a zero balance as it should....

Confused, is this even legal? The statments show no "payoff", simply the balance.
